Course Overview:  

The Grade 6 Language Arts Guide provides a comprehensive reading program that is grounded in the Maryland Content Standards for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. These standards are subdivided into Indicators and Objectives by MSDE, and the Office of Secondary English Language Arts has further organized these Indicators and Objectives into a course of study that is arranged into four thematic units. Teachers will use these units to provide students with a comprehensive program of study.

Unit Titles:

Unit 1:  Inspired by Change:  Exploring Acts of Courage
Unit 2:  Individual Changes:  Determining Our Own Pathways to Adulthood
Unit 3:  Challenged by Change:  Embracing our Heritage
Unit 4:  Changes Over Time:  Discovering Allusions to the Past

Classwork:            50%
Assessments:        25%
Homework:           15%
Participation:       10%

 Homework/Make-up Policy: Your child will have homework following each class. Please note that all work is due on the date assigned. Late work will not be accepted, unless a student is absent. If a student is absent on the day an assignment is due, the student is responsible for turning in the assignment on the day he/she returns.

Make-up work- Students who are absent will have three days to make-up work missed.
